Oh god! The View was discussing it today and my mum was sitting next to me. I got up and ran to my bedroom. LOL (She's the type of mother who can't even bear watch a sex scene with me because in her eyes, I am forever an innocent child. Sorry mum, but I lost my innocent brain thoughts when I signed up for Twilight) Therefore,I didn't end up watching it, and I hope they didn't discuss the fact that it was a Twilight fanfiction. *prepares for interrogation tomorrow*
Oh, and people from other fandoms, have just started to begin understanding what it means to be in the Twilight fandom. Oh yes. Rough sex is our main topic. Not sparkly vampires and shirtless werewolves.
I saw the View yesterday and yeah they were discussing it oh man it was funny! and as for my mom she would just roll her eyes she did'nt care she has seen(along time ago) the movie(the very first one) Wallstreet and there is a sence in the movie where Daryl Hanna is sucking on Charlie Sheens dick and my mom(in sarcastic voice) gee I wonder what they are doing she was hysterical and I would die laughing and my dad would just smikr it was funny!
I would love to meet her I HOPE(please god!) she does a book tour and makes an appearance at B&N in my neck of the woods! I am keeping my fingers cross!
I think people are blowing the subject matter a little out of proportion... I know they need to do it for publicity reasons and to spark peoples interest, but come on with the bondage, dominating aspect of it. YES! The premise of the story is about a man that likes Dom/Sub relationships and they do a little bit of stuff in the "Red Room", but Ana truly is not a submissive and I think that is how this story is such a ride... and it's so full of multiple aspects of an amazing, sexy, and difficult relationship. It kink of embarrasses me to put myself in a group of people who claim that women want to be dominated. I did not see it that way at all. It was about a woman who was waking up, sexually and finding intense love at the same time... she NEVER truly became his submissive... She woke him up, and made him happy, and became his life... and it showed that love conquers all.... I guess that is one way that Fifty Shades is like Twilight.
I wish people would recognize the story of Fifty to be so much deeper than a kinky relationship... Believe it or not, I had a hard time adjusting to all the kinky sex, since it was my first erotic book, but the back story is truly what captured me and had me hanging by a thread. My sex life has improved after reading fanfic (besides Fifty)... and ironically, I am the one calling the shots in bed... and my DH is along for the ride and couldn't be happier... and there is absolutely no Dom/Sub going on in our bedroom.Anyway..... I FLOVE Icy. I think she is an amazing, real, humble person. I adore her in that interview.
I completely agree! My first attempt at reading this I got as far as the contract and stopped. I thought this just wasn't for me, but all you wonderful BTB's out there convinced me to give it another shot, and I'm sooo glad I did!
I can remember trembling (nervously, not sexually) while reading about CG's requests and desires... I wasn't so sure I wanted to continue either. The only thing that kept me going was the fact that there were three books. I simply assumed that there was much more to this story than a contract... You know what I mean??
It was new territory for me, too, when I first read the original story, MOTU I & II! But, my curiosity got the best of me! I am so happy that I read the whole thing!!!
This NBC interview goes to show that Icy is humbled that there is so much interest in her 'fantasy" book!
I still do not understand why some within the Twi-fandom are hating upon her and/or her books. She clearly did not anticipate their success. IMO, she should not be flamed because she decided to go more public with it, considering it was already on the internet and accessible to many readers. I applaud her and wish her much more success!
